Apple’s Q1 FY2025 Earnings

Why These Two CEOs Don’t Do 1-on-1s

Why Is This C.E.O. Bragging About Replacing Humans With A.I.? I consider bragging without proof about the impact of AI a red flag for any company. The more a CEO talks up the role of AI, the bigger the red flag.

Amazon Prime members enjoyed fastest-ever delivery speeds in 2024, and US members saved on average over $500 on delivery fees. It is exceedingly difficult and expensive, if not impossible, for any company to replicate the infrastructure that Amazon built. As long as Amazon maintains a grip on Prime members and shoppers, it will stay a behemoth. And there is nothing that shoppers want more than convenience and speed at affordable prices. Amazon, so far, delivers that.

Is Waymo Friend or Foe to Uber? The alleged threat of autonomous vehicles (AV) to Uber is overblown. There are a lot more than just having the tech which is, at best, just a test in a small market. Uber detailed why AV is nowhere near where a lot of people say it is yet

NFL goes after Gen Z fans by courting creators on YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat. Charlie Munger once said: “fish where the fish are”. “The NFL’s push to engage creators, which began in 2019, has already paid off. The percentage of Gen Z and Gen A who identify as fans has grown steadily for the last three years to an all-time high as the league’s investment in creators has grown, according to the NFL.”

Which is worse for wildlife, wind farms or oil drilling? I am happy to see that we discuss in honesty the pros and cons of ways to harness renewable energy. Yes, wind farms are a great way to leverage strong winds for energy, but they also affect birds who have nothing to do with this and don’t deserve to have their life turned upside down. It’s a matter of choice. And a matter of making an informed decision.

The biggest breach of US government data is under way. I support the initiative to cut waste from the executive branch, but we could and should have done this way better than what DOGE is doing. Elon can resign from his post, be a federal employee and hire whoever he wants and adhere to the security protocol that everyone else has to abide by. Look, a lot of people heavily criticized what Hilary Clinton did and other Democrats did. Rightfully so. Noone should be above the law. And the same standard should be applied here, no matter how well-intentioned the cause is.

The Mafias Behind Sand Trafficking in Latin America. “Most illegally mined sand is used in the construction sector for materials like concrete and bricks as well as for foundation bedding. It is cheaper than legally mined sand, and scant oversight by authorities throughout Latin America and the Caribbean has made sand trafficking a relatively profitable and low-risk activity for criminal groups throughout the region. In addition to filling the coffers of sometimes violent criminal groups, illegal sand extraction has caused environmental damage like wildlife extinctions, changes in waterways, and increased flooding.”
