An interesting blog post comparing Klarna against Affirm in anticipation of Klarna’s IPO
Charting the Biden economy: Despite all the growth and jobs, a deeply unpopular president. By all accounts, the economy is in good shape thanks to the increase in productivity and strength in consumer spending. The problem for Biden is two-folds. The first is that he is wildly unpopular for multiple reasons. The second is that there are consequences from this economic growth and these consequences are very important to voters. Who knows what the next four years will be? So far, I fear that the Trump meme coin is already a spoiler of what may come.
Trump laid out a sweeping energy agenda. Here are all the key actions he took on day one. Every business and investor will need to monitor news from the White House every day, just to HAVE A CHANCE to gues what this administration wants to do. You want chaos? You now get chaos.
Stargate artificial intelligence project to exclusively serve OpenAI. The announcement sounds like a giant game-changing investment, but sources said that it was anything but. OpenAI and Softbank just had a plan to invest $15 billion each and hoped that it would draw investors to make up the rest of the $50 billion pledged. The problem is that it’s very possible that funding has not been secured. Instead of being fooled by these hype announcements, investors should focus on the secular trends. How would investments in AI create opportunities for companies that produce services and products to support such investments? On a side note, it is typical of what I expect of a Trump administration. A lot of uncertainty, a lot of hype and it’s hard to tell which is noise and which is signal.
Why Amazon is struggling to crack Argentina. “Long-standing protectionism in Argentina has meant that items from abroad often spend weeks held up in customs. Electronics cost a staggering 90% more in the country compared to the U.S., according to PriceStats, a firm that compiles online prices. Even with Amazon’s discounted shipping rates, importing goods remains out of reach for many Argentines.”

The Finnish secret to happiness: Avanto and Löyly. One of the things I missed the most about Finland is sauna. The ones at the local gyms in the US are not the same.
The truth about eating eggs. I am glad that we no longer consider all cholesterol is harmful to our body. In fact, I wrote about how important cholesterol is. When such a concern is mute, eggs are arguably the most nutritious food we can find; which makes it disappointing to see that eggs become increasingly expensive in the US due to the avian flu.
